This study utilizes empirical research method to compile the questionnaire for the motivation of Chinese medical students coming to China. The survey was conducted on 653 medical students from 55 origin countries and 8 universities in China. In addition to motivation research, we also analyzes the relationship between the factors such as university, educational background, gender and origin of students and the motivation. The results show that safe and stable social environment, profound history and culture, and a large number of universities are the most important motives for foreign students to study medicine in China. There are significant differences in the motivations of international medical students from different genders, universities, and educational background to study abroad, and but there were no significant differences among students from different countries of origin.

In a study of international students' perceptions of services and supports offered by the mid-sized institution in which they are currently enrolled, consisting of 103 international students onshore in the USA, it was found that the majority of the respondents were fully aware of the International Student Orientation (ISO) that is made available to them via the Office of International Education (OIE). However, only close to 70% of the respondents had attended the orientation, even though the university claimed that attending the International Student Orientation is mandatory for all new international students. Respondents also claimed that services such as Immigration Support and Advising; International Student Organization; Cultural Events; Blackboard Communication; and Shuttle Service are all very helpful. However, some respondents wished to see more useful and relevant services that could be offered by the university such as job guidance, as well as assisting international students in their internship application.

Despite the growth in numbers and geopolitical relevance of African students in China, research focusing on this body of student migrants remains scarce. This article presents an empirical investigation and postcolonial theorisation of student migration between Africa and China. Drawing on data from semi-structured interviews with 40 African students, I provide an account of the decision-making processes that lead African student migrants to study in Chinese universities. The article explores how this process is mediated by global power asymmetries, specifically China's position within the (post)colonial world system relative to African nations. Four examples are given of student decision-making processes which are shaped by structural inequalities, and challenge existing understandings of who moves overseas to study for a degree and to what ends. These are as follows: underprivileged students benefiting from China's political manoeuvring, students who are coerced into moving overseas, students who are middle class but not affluent by global standards, and elites who take advantage of social networks to secure diplomatic scholarships.

This study aims at finding out the current trends in international student education with emphasis on China as an emerging preferred study location by most international students in recent times. 583 international students took part in this study, using the simple random and convenience sampling methods. The study adopted the descriptive survey design, using an online questionnaire which was generated by the Microsoft Survey application and sent via personal online platforms. The data were analyzed using means (including mean of means) and standard deviations (including mean of standard deviation) for all questions. From the findings, it was revealed that most students now have a strong desire for international education for the purposes of getting international certifications, meeting new faculty, changing environment and having access to well-equipped universities. In addition, the study revealed that, most international students now choose to study in China in order to enjoy scholarships from the Chinese government and universities, learn the Chinese language, enjoy higher chances of gaining admission for subsequent studies, experience simple visa processes, experience the fast growth of the Chinese economy at firsthand as well as enjoy from the relatively low costs of obtaining a degree and living in China. Furthermore, the study also revealed that, in recent times, most international students do not patronize universities in the western countries as before, for reasons such as cumbersome visa processes, inability to properly integrate into western cultures as well as the relatively high costs of obtaining a degree and living there. The study also revealed that a few outstanding benefits of studying in China in clude: the establishment of business partnerships, higher post-graduation employment prospects, personal safety and the strategic positioning of China as a link to the rest of the world. The study further recommended that: the Chinese government through the Ministry of Education (MOE), should continuously put in place measures to attract more higher-calibre international students from all over the world by making sure all internationalized schools adjust to global standards, university authorities should also arrange necessary internship opportunities for international students to help bridge the gap between the job market and the classroom. In addition, higher institutions’ ad ministrators and other concerned stakeholders of international education should continuously implement sustainable measures to bring in more international students by providing foreigner-friendly services. Furthermore, on the part of interna tional students, they must plan well and do enough research on the chosen study location before making an attempt to school abroad, they must also learn to abide strictly by the laws of their chosen location of study, so as to enjoy their time of study. Moreover, in choosing a location of study abroad, they can consider schooling either in the West or in the East, provided the prevailing conditions in the chosen location meets their expectations. Finally, schooling in China is a recommended option due to the relative possible benefits during and even after the completion of studies.

Background: International students face multiple challenges due to cultural distance, cultural shock, social support, stress and anxiety, language barriers, and classroom transition. Moreover, the outbreak of COVID-19 complicated the living situation for international students. Physical activity (PA) can be a coping strategy in overcoming health challenges as it is known to have health benefits, improve socialization and integration skills. Aim: The study aimed to determine PA levels of international students in China during COVID-19 and analyze the associated characteristics. Setting and Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted among international students in China. Subjects and Methods: An online questionnaire that included demographic, academic, and behavioral characteristics together with International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form tool was used to collect the data. Statistical Analysis: Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and Mann–Whitney U test were employed to analyze the data. Results: One thousand and hundred and twenty international students were recruited into the study. 71.3% of the participants were engaged in low, 15% in moderate and 13.8% in high PA. PA of international students was associated with gender, body mass index, marital status, continent of origin, student residence, study language, time spent in China and alcohol consumption P < 0.01; academic level P < 0.05. However, there was no significant association of PA with age and smoking status P < 0.05. Conclusion: This study indicates a lower level of PA among international students in China. International education management may consider the promotion of PA as a good intervention to the health of international students during COVID-19.

Introduction . The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the world to pause. One hundred and eighty-eight countries have imposed countrywide school closures, affecting more than 1.5 billion children and youths. The majority of academic leaders are currently encouraging online education to resolve this crisis. This study aimed to investigate international medical students’ (IMS) experiences of online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods Data were collected online using a validated questionnaire and one open-ended question, presented on the Google forms platform. The study attracted responses from 1,107 IMS volunteer participants. IBM SPSS v. 25, GraphPad Prism v. 9, and MindManager v. 2018 were used for data analysis. All variables were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis. The Mann–Whitney U test was used in subgroup analysis and the Kruskal-Wallis test was also applied for year-wise comparisons. Open-ended text responses were analyzed qualitatively, extracting themes by which responses were classified. Results Among 1,107 respondents, a total of 67.8% were males, and the majority (63.1%) of the IMS were in the age group of 21–23 years. The results show that more than half of the respondents reported their Internet connection quality as poor to average. Poor Internet connection severely affected IMS online learning experience. Persistent and recurrent issues with Internet access became a significant concern for IMS. Lack of electricity is one of the factors that can contribute to poor learning output and dissatisfaction with online teaching. IMS perceive online medical education as unhelpful in several phases of the training, such as improving their clinical skills, knowledge, and discussion skills. Conclusions During these unprecedented periods, online teaching has allowed medical education to continue. However, IMS are generally dissatisfied with online teaching. Medical students must visualize the human body, so supportive technologies are important to compensate for the lack of clinical practices. Medical institutions may need to invest in faculty training programs and continually adjust to enhance the content of online training and international partnerships. A switch from conventional face-to-face teaching to a fully functional virtual education framework in the medical education field will take time and experience.

This paper examines how student motivations to study abroad are shaped by what
might be called the ‘rationality–emotion nexus’. Drawing from 15 months of
ethnographic engagement at a Chinese university, we show how rational factors
(e.g., pursuit of financial resources) interact with emotional forces (e.g., love for
family members) in dynamic and diverse ways to shape the pathways of African
student migrants to higher education overseas. More specifically, we identify three
distinct dynamics in the nexus: (ⅰ) rationality is entangled with emotions; (ⅱ)
rationality parallels emotions; and (ⅲ) rationality and emotions transform each other.
By foregrounding this nexus, the present study offers a critical intervention into
international student mobility/migration studies as it develops ‘an integrative
approach’ that transcends either a widely established rational framework of capital
conversion or the emerging emotional geographies of transnational education
migration.

The recruitment of international students has become a global phenomenon. Prospective candidates planning to study abroad rely on different sources of information in their decision-making processes, provided by different national, institutional and private actors. Thus, more analysis of the mediators facilitating this encounter of recruiters and students is needed. This study analyses how study choices in Finland and China are constructed by analysing the embeddedness of national recruitment strategies in websites, the construction of study choices as capitals and the trust-building devices (dispositifs) employed in the websites. Data consist of textual material from four websites representing educational offerings in Finland and China, targeted for international students searching for information in their study-abroad decision-making. This study puts forward three arguments. First, the analysed websites reflect the national strategies on the recruitment of international students; however, the approaches the websites use vary greatly. Second, websites construct expectations that build on a holistic study-abroad experience. Third, non-governmental websites employ commercially oriented dispositifs to distinguish or affirm choices.

With the new development of China-Africa relations and the vigorous development of the country's education for international students, the number of African students studying in China has surged, and the difficulty of education management in colleges and universities has increased accordingly. However, many scholars have conducted multi-angle and in-depth research on the educational management model of international students in China, educational management policies for international students in China, current situation and optimization strategies. The research dimension is relatively single and lacks an overall perspective. This study takes the educational management practice of African international students in Zhejiang Normal University as the breakthrough point and introduces the investigation of international students' cross-cultural adaptability. A sample of African students coming to China was selected from Zhejiang Normal University (n=475). This study designed a questionnaire based on the dimensions of enrollment management, teaching management, and daily management combined with the teaching satisfaction, cultural adaptability, and emotional attitude of African international students in China. Using SPSS 26 software to conduct data correlation analysis, the results found problems such as lack of enrollment channels, incomplete enrollment promotion, unreasonable curriculum settings, inadequate implementation of the tutor responsibility system, and excessive differentiated management. The characteristic countermeasures for the education management of African international students in China are to uphold the thinking of a community with a shared future for mankind, optimize the enrollment management of African students in China; advocate the value cognition of "harmony but different", improve teaching management; implement "people-oriented" services Purpose, improve daily management; deepen community value recognition, and promote students' cross-cultural adaptation.
